we all have a story...

growing up in the midwest, photographer tom strand has always been curious about the warm tropical climates of the deep south. on a commercial shoot in new orleans, he took a few extra days to explore the backwoods and stories of this fascinating submerged landscape. what he found were people with stories deeply rooted in history, what he photographed were stunning characters.

shooting with a fujix 6x9 camera on polaroid type 665 positive negative film, the results of his journey through the wetlands are calm and piercing; portraits of a local alligator wrestler, the catfish shack, the debutantes of the hidden south... tom has returned the magic to the south with these intense and erie images...
